"Doctor Who" party for a 13 year old.

When my grandson was turning 13 I wanted to be careful not to do a theme party that might seem childish. Teens are often more worried about being seen as childish than adults are. He had liked Dr. Who for a while so that is what I chose. There are a lot of sites with these kind of parties and a good number of ideas.

Dr. Who party table

THE DETAILS:

Dr. Who Tardis treat bags
I printed a Tardis picture and glued it to the front of a blue bag for the treat bags. I also used them as a centerpiece for the table .

                                        The napkin rings consisted
of a rectangle of plaid as
the ring with a picture of
a bow tie glued to them.

My husband does my printing. We made a poster as large as we could on his printer for the back wall. I cut plastic tablecloths from the dollar store into streamers and made a border of larger bow ties. The stars were from Michaels.

Doctor Who cupcakes

We printed cupcake toppers from HERE and added some with pictures of a tardis and a dalek. We also made Tardis cupcake wrappers.

THE FOOD:

Veggie Dalek
The inspiration for the veggie dalek came from HERE. I used radishes in place of the cherry tomatoes.

Bow tie pasta salad

I made a BLT bow- tie pasta salad to keep with the theme. I found the recipe HERE. I didn't have buttermilk so I used 2% and I used romaine for the lettuce because I thought it would not wilt as easily as leaf lettuce. Everyone said it was yummy! I did use the Applewood smoked bacon and it is so good.

This is supposed to be " fish fingers and custard". It is actually PC shortbread and custard. I was planning to use icing sugar and water as glue to adhere graham crumbs for breading but as this whole party was planned and executed in 2 days I ran out of time.

I also ran out of time for this idea I got HERE. These are adipose marshmallows.

Bow tie toasts with cheese. I also used bow tie cheese to garnish the meat platter.

Doctor Who party table
I was thrilled to find these blue water bottles. The bows are hair-bows from dollar tree. In place of "jammy dodgers" there is a bowl of peak frean jam cookies.

Jelly candies for the 4th dr. "Would you like a jelly baby?"

The birthday boy seemed to like it.

Simple Birthday Decor for a Pre-teen Boy

I had been away on holidays and came back with only a couple of days to prepare for my grandson's 12th birthday so it had to be fast and simple. Here is what I came up with:

Pre-teen birthday decor

I started with black and white photos from all my grandson's previous birthdays.

Birthday picture wall

I reused the banner from here and covered the puppy pics with smaller versions of the birthday photos.

Snack boxes were from Michaels. I used 2 tablecloths and attached ribbon down the middle with double sided tape.
I put "Munchies" in the boxes because it is one of my grandson's favorite snacks

The happy 12 year old!

I hope this gives you a few ideas for your celebration.

Lego Friends Birthday Party

Creating a Lego Friends Birthday Party presented
it's challenges as there didn't seem to be anything
available for purchase that would help with the decor.

To the rescue........my computer and printer.

Lego Friends Birthday Table

The table card is printed on both sides and has a lego base to hold it up.
Around the base are scattered candy blocks.

The party favors were small lego sets and the characters and animals
from the sets are used as a table decoration.

Robot Birthday Party Ideas Using a pdf file

When coming up with ideas for a birthday party theme
a pdf file of images can be invaluable.

When my grandson wanted a "Robot Party" for his 3rd birthday my daughter
purchased a pdf file of vintage robots. I chose 4 robots from the nine available,
cropped them out and removed the backgrounds in photoshop.
If you don't have photoshop just try to find images you like that don't have backgrounds.

FOUR ROBOTS

With these four robots I made:

 birthday banner

Each piece of the banner was printed on an
8½ x 11 piece of card stock and cut out.

food cards

cupcake dots
A 3" hole punch would have been nice but
I couldn't find one at my local Michaels
store so had to cut them out by hand

Party wall decor

napkin rings

All of the above were printed on white card-stock.

Treat bag stickers             Small candy bag stickers
Printed on full sheet sticker paper
and cut out.

Birthday gift bag sticker

It made for a very colorful party as you can see HERE

I hope this gives you some ideas for your own party!

"Robot Birthday Party"

My 2 year old Grandson had been looking forward to his July birthday ever since his little brother turned one in March. For four months he talked about his"Robot Party". When I found out they would be visiting for his birthday I knew I had to make it special.

Waiting for the party to start and having a few snacks

I found these large "u-build it" robots at Winners in the clearance section.
 How lucky was that?

Cousins!

Even baby brother sat at the table!

THE TREAT BAGS:

The take home candy  had its own little bag.

Michaels had all kinds of Robot treats including puzzles, wind-ups, pencils
and pencil cases, stickers etc.

A full page sticker  decorated the gift bag.

As part of the birthday gift I made Levi a few more pages for his Quiet Book
including this one :

Robot quiet book page.
The patterns for the robot page are found here.

All in all we had a good day!
