Vintage pyrex: growing my collection

A post I shared about my vintage pyrex collection has been a favorite for many and so
I thought I would update it.  I like how it looks now that I have had my kitchen renovated.
I finally painted the cupboard that I display it in.

The evolution of the collection:

Vintage pyrex and glasses in turquoise and pink:

I decided to add some yellow pyrex

In the bottom left corner is a lime green loaf pan. I am now on the hunt for that color as well.

I also collect vintage glasses in turquoise, pink and yellow.

I  found some plastic doilies from the 1950's in the same colors.

I find that I like these colors more and more and am planning to share the other vintage finds that I have in my kitchen on a future post. I would love to hear about your pyrex likes in the comments.

Collecting Vintage Pyrex

Vintage pyrex collection
When I shared a picture I liked of pink pyrex on Pinterest there seemed to be a lot of interest in the subject. I decided I would showcase my own vintage pink and aqua pyrex collection which was greatly enhanced by a trip to the Brimfield Antique Show this past fall. Most of these are from the late 50's to the very early sixties. I really like so much of the 50's style.

Thrifting Thursday Christmas

It's Christmas!
Outdoor Nativity

This past summer while garage sale-ing I found something I have been wanting for a long time. It is not exactly what I might have had in mind when I pictured an outdoor Nativity but it is cute and now that it is up for Christmas I really like it. At only $5 the price can't be beat! I found the lighted star at my local United Church Store for $3 so all in all  quite a bargain in my opinion.

Vintage candolier

I really love vintage Christmas decorations as it brings back memories of the way we used to celebrate. At this time of year I like to scour the thrift and antique stores just to see what is there. A few years back I bought these electric candles at a thrift store and this year I found a second one. The plastic flowers are original and I know they are a little cheesy but I like them anyway.

The vintage wreath is also a thrift store find from years back.

Vintage Nativity

I have used this Nativity set for 40 years and we had one when I was a child. Mine was a little damaged and I found an original on ebay this year. They are making reproductions of this so even if you can't find it in vintage it is still possible to get one.

Another vintage find for only $1!

Merry Christmas and Happy Thrifting!

Vintage Craft Room Art

front cover

Still working on my craft room!  My daughter found this awesome embroidery stitch book at a reuse store for 25¢. What a find!  We decided to scan the pages and I made them into artwork for my craft room.

And in my room....

I love vintage things and having unique art work in my house so this was perfect for me. Thanks Janie!

Displaying Collections

vintage silhouettes
Many years ago I found myself interested in these vintage silhouettes. They were collected over time at thrift stores and antique sales, and I decided I needed some way to display them. The frame was made with bead board and a stretcher frame. Earlier I had picked up a lot of wood corner pieces at a garage sale and glued 4 of them on to cover where the corners met.  It has worked well and makes the pictures easier to move. All in all it was a very inexpensive way to showcase this collection.

The only problem now is that my collection has grown so much that I may have to figure out a way to display many more.

A lot of the silhouettes are reverse painting on glass and in some cases the original frame and backing were missing. For the ones below my husband took pictures in our yard and we re-framed them with the pictures as backing.

I definitely don't intend to get any more of these but do find some of them hard to resist. Hopefully I will come up with a way to display the whole collection in an innovative way.
